Paul Musso (BA Hons)

Paul is one of the many working photographers to come out of Blackpool and the Fylde with a degree, and that was the last time it was relevant! A professional photographer since 1994 in virtually every aspect of photography Paul found his strengths lie in portraiture and people where the interaction between photographer and subject define the image.

After over 15 years of editorial photography Paul moved into advertising and marketing creating scenarios for celebrities endorsing products often with a humorous twist. He created the imagery of a cross section of people floating in liquid for Page & Page who won the Communique Award 2019 one of the most prestigious awards available in Healthcare Marketing for the project.

In 2017 Paul was commissioned to set up a portrait studio in the Green Room of the Hay Festival in Wales for their 30th anniversary. It proved such a success he has been back twice more to date. Over the 11 day festival he takes between 500-700 portraits of the authors, politicians and actors that take to the stage over the festival aiming to capture “how your friends see you”. There is a small selection of less than 10% in the galleries.

Paul is a member of the Association of Photographers, and in 2018 was one of the first wave of photographers to join Photographers United- now a large group of photographers supporting, sharing and sustaining each other and the photographic industry.

A photograph has nothing to do with the person you are photographing, it has to do with what comes out of the person when you’re with them, and what you can give them.- Peter Lindbergh (1944-2019)
